A short history of Bondurant
Bondurant was platted in 1884 and named for Alexander C. Bondurant, who donated land for the Des Moines and Northern Railway depot.
The city had about 1,100 residents in 1990. Explosive growth along Highway 65 and NE 80th Street has since pushed it past 8,000, making it one of Iowa's fastest-growing communities by percentage.
